 Preview:

2) Topics to cover in pharmacology.
3) Which is best resource- MCQ book or textbook.
4) How to remember this evaporating subject.

Pharmacology is vast subject and not easy to remember, as well as not impossible to remember.

1) Points to remember before starting your preparation:
  • To prepare for NEET MDS exam you need to look into past few years question paper, and you have to refer some topics in your textbooks if you had adequate time.
  • But in case of pharmacology, you should do in opposite way, first you should chart out all the necessary classification, revise it and go for MCQ books.
  • And your preparation should be based on time availability, because pharmacology is not an only subject for an exam.
  • And remember its volatile subject, so you need spaced revision [revise the topic from time to time].
  • Don't take it as boring work, you will feel tired, just take it as mind game to remember everything.

2) Topics to cover in pharmacology:
  1. General pharmacology
  2. Chemotherapy (Classification of antibiotics, antitubercular drugs, antifungal drugs etc.)
  3. Autonomous nervous system
  4. Drugs acting on blood, endocrine.
  5. Drugs acting on GIT
  6. Drugs acting on Respiratory system
  7. Drugs acting on Cardiovascular system, Central nervous system.
  8. NSAIDS, Local anesthesia, General anesthesia.
In every topic there is a classification of drugs, make a note of it, and read the mechanism of action for classified drugs and go for MCQ books. It may look exhausted but take it slowly, and it will pay off.

3) What is best resource - MCQ books or standard textbooks?
The answer for this question depends on subject, as i said earlier, for NEET MDS MCQ books plays major role, but for some subjects you should read content first, and then go for questions, but you should also note how much time you have for your exam, if you have less than 3months time, then better go for MCQ books. Because all you need to know is facts with little more understanding.

4) How to remember this evaporating subject?
  • First prepare your own handy notes, if you found any difficulty making notes from textbooks, there are plenty of videos in YouTube, and simple article in internet go for it and prepare slowly every day.
  • Make sure that you are not dumping yourself with classification within a day, every day 2 hours give time for it and prepare.
  • The most common mantra is Read, Revise & Repeat.
Hacks to prepare for volatile subject:
1. Read your topics during early morning or during your fresh hours.

2.Make a hints or mnemonics for classification.

3.Make a sticky note and revise it regularly. And don't overdo it, this is not an only subject you have for your exam, study smart.

ALL THE VERY BEST!!
